Idaho Exemptions for Emissions Testing

Last updated on April 26th, 2018

In the state of Idaho, vehicles are required to pass emissions testing before the vehicle can become registered. There are a few exemptions to this rule, they are as follows:

  • It’s a 1964 model vehicle or earlier
  • It’s not registered or used on the county of Ada
  • It’s a motor-home or motorcycle
  • It’s a new vehicle that is less than a year old
  • It has a manufacturers weight rating that is less than 1,500 pounds
  • Its registered as an Idaho Old Timer or Classic Vehicle
  • It’s a farm tractor
  • It’s a vehicle that is registered on a pro-rated basis
  • It’s an alternative fuel based vehicle

If your vehicle meets any of these standards, it’s considered exempt from emissions testing. Always check with your states emissions testing for further information.
